We are looking for a corrosion engineer

METALogic offers a wide variety of products and services concerning material degradation phenomena in general and corrosion in particular. The company was established in 1991 as a spin-off company of the department Metallurgy and Applied Materials Science of the Catholic University of Leuven. In 2019, METALogic was acquired by the TÜV AUSTRIA Group. Its customers can be found in the chemical, petrochemical and steel industry, and many other sectors.

Function description
As a corrosion engineer you perform failure analyses as well as damage mechanism reviews and RBI projects.

When performing a failure analysis you go to the limit to solve the failure case. You come to a correct estimation of the root cause and formulate advice for the future. For this purpose you perform several investigations (e.g. metallographic study, SEM-EDX analysis, …) in the lab and write a report for the customer. You come into contact with a large variety of cases from various industrial sectors.
In a risk based inspection (RBI) project you identify and list the damage mechanisms during the damage mechanism review (DMR) of the project. The DMR yields essential information with regard to the integrity of the installation. Based on the results of the DMR you determine the risks associated to the assets of the installation and set up a detailed inspection plan for the customer.

An RBI project is a team process during which our corrosion engineers enter into dialogue with the maintenance, process and inspection experts of the client. The goal is to gather all relevant information needed for the study.

  • You have a Master’s degree or equivalent through experience preferably in the field of Materials, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related.
  • Knowledge and experience in the field of corrosion/failure analysis/inspections and RBI is a plus
  • You have strong analytical skills, are a critical thinker and you work meticulously
  • You take initiative
  • You are a good communicator
  • Knowledge of English and Dutch is required. Knowledge of French is a plus.
Our offer
  • A dynamic environment where sharing knowledge is key
  • Alternating technical challenges
  • Competitive salary, based on your knowledge and experience

Are you interested? Please send your CV and motivation to hr@metalogic.be.
